Wouldn't that actually increase drag on some surfaces though? I'd like to think they would actually create a lot of turbulence.

Those body styles were aerodynamically extremely bad so the holes are probably good for gaining more speed. Especially the front heavily punched fenders should be an enhancement. And they look pretty awesome.

Saw a Honda with air holes on /rshitty_car_mods. Posters defended the practice, but aerodynamics isn't really intuitive.
